The Internally Displaced Students Care and Education program was formed in
March, 2001 to provide a hostel for young men and women to live in during
their studies in Mae La Refugee Camp.
Among these are students who have come to the camp solely for the education
opportunities the camp provides. The parents of these students are also Displaced people
still living in Burma who have to struggle hard for their survival while
trying to provide for their children. They are often uprooted many times
and have to move from place to place in order to survive. They are
constantly harassed and threatened by the Burmese military government army.
