REFUGEE OUTREACH January-February 2006
Page 2

I woke up at 2:00 AM and couldn't get back to sleep so got up, had devotions, room service coffee and watched TV. I woke Mary at 9 and we went down for breakfast. Rudy and Bee showed up right on time and we started the next leg of our adventure. We dropped Mary at the airport and she and I made arrangements to meet up in Chiang Mai when I was finished in the refugee camps. We had a pretty uneventful drive until just about 1 hour out of Mae Sot when we broke down going up the steepest hill in the mountains. After cell phone calls back and forth to Jeff, our friend in Mae Sot, arrangements were made for him to send a driver out to pick us up and our hired driver would get someone to tow the car and get it fixed.

Here's a photo of me with our Driver, Somchok.

It was dark by the time we got to Mae Sot and I got settled in my room. Rudy and Bee were staying at another hotel and we made arrangements to meet for dinner. I was so tired after having been up since 2:30 I was very happy to have an early dinner and go to bed. I called Pastor Winsleigh and Tay Tay, my Mae Sot contacts and Tay Tay asked me if I could head for the border in the morning and go across to Mu Aye Pu where the celebrations would be held. I quickly agreed to go and spend the night in the camp. I told them I'd be ready to go by 10:30 next day.
